The Nomia Project Exists to Help Australia Respond
Nomia is a non-profit initiative working to develop practical, science-led native pollination capability for Australian conditions.
Our goal is not to replace existing pollination systems. Our goal is to help strengthen Australia’s pollination resilience by developing complementary native pollinator capability that can operate alongside them.
This is not quick work, and it is not small work.
It requires carefully designed infrastructure, ecological habitat engineering, breeding systems, field trials, scientific monitoring and long-term validation under real Australian farming conditions.
In plain terms, we are working to help Australia build stronger pollination resilience before this challenge becomes even harder and more expensive to address.

The Scale of the Work
Producing measurable and independently reviewable results requires more than isolated habitat works or short-term trials. It requires multi-year investment in purpose-built breeding infrastructure, controlled field trials, scientific monitoring, data systems and regional validation.
Nomia’s initial task is to establish and validate an Australian operating model capable of producing defensible biological, agricultural and economic evidence. Subject to confirmed designs, procurement and scientific review, this establishment and validation work is expected to require funding at the multi-million-dollar scale.
If validated results support broader deployment, implementation across Australian agricultural regions would require investment in the tens of millions of dollars and could extend into hundreds of millions depending on geographic coverage, crop participation and the infrastructure model adopted.
Funding will be released through defined stages, measurable milestones, formal review gates and transparent reporting. Scale will follow evidence, not precede it.
